PROJECTION SCREENS
There are essentially two types of front projection screens on the market :
- Standard Non-Acoustic screens
- Conventionally PVC, Vinyl or Glass Fibre. With such screens, all front channel speakers must be located on view away from the screen.
- A.T. (Acoustically Transparent) Screens
- Developed for the Cinema, AT screens allow the speakers to be physically located behind the screen. There are two categories of AT Screen :
- Perforated or Micro Perforated : Numerous miniature holes are punched into a solid screen material allowing the sound to pass through the screen.
- Woven : The screen is manufactured from woven strands rather than being a solid sheet with holes. This approach provides far greater accuracy in both image and sound quality. Screen Excellence projection screens are designed using this principle.
- The manufacturing process for a standard screen is far simpler than for an A.T. screen and this is necessarily reflected in their price difference. In use however a standard screen can never allow image and sound to be synchronised correctly and coherent with respect to each other. Only Acoustically Transparent screen can achieve the proper merging of sound and image creating the absolute cinema experience.
Screen Excellence
All Screen Excellence projection screens are of the A.T. woven type
- Motorised Screen : Where a fixed frame screen is not practical a motorised screen allow the screen to be retracted into a ceiling or wall-mounted case when not required. This can be activated by a switch, remote control, or directly by the projector.
- Fixed-Frame : The screen material is stretched over a frame, similar to an artwork. This provides the flattest screen achievable
